Newsflash! There Are NO Easy Ways To Make Money Online
But there are ways that take a little work, require a some consistent effort and some new skills, that can be both fun and profitable and that are way easier than working in a job until retirement age or beyond.
So, in my last two posts I’ve been telling my story about how I came to be interested in internet marketing, and how initially, I was super focused on easy ways to make money online. (If you haven’t read those posts already, you can find the first one here and the second one here.
Basically, at the end of my last post I was up to the bit where, after much frustration, procrastination, and searching, feeling like I was spinning my wheels and getting nowhere, I finally started to understand how to play by the rules in a way that would allow me to succeed.
The new rules that are really the old rules…
In the good old days on the internet, back when it resembled the gun-slinging Wild West, before Google got smart and created its much stricter rule book, we could use tools and tricks to outsmart, out maneuver and stay in front of the pack relatively easily.
Many internet marketers made a lot of fast money that way, and even more made a fortune teaching newbies like myself how to do it.
But as with all things that aren’t done with the right intention, that freedom to succeed using cunning rather than good intention was short lived, and the new rules created by Google, changed the game.
Or did they?
What I’ve learned is that the new rules are really the old rules, and guess what? They’ve been around forever. These rules are the determining factor in true success. They always have been and always will be!
Don’t be. It’s really, really simple.
The basic number one rule to succeed online is…. Wait for it!
Drum roll pleeeeeeze…..
Create good content!
I told you it was simple.
Overlooking simplicity because it looks too simple…
I have a habit of doing that. I overlook the answers to my questions because they appear to be too simple. It seems (frustratingly) that my natural instinct is to always be looking for something more complicated!
However I must confess, right here, that I really was looking for something quick and easy to get us back on track financially after our little business disaster which was influencing me a lot…
Also, in the training I’d received by all those fast and furious internet marketers in those first years of my internet marketing apprenticeship, I’d been led to believe that that was the way to do it.
I didn’t know any different!
What I’ve since learned is that there were other internet marketers out there, plugging along, creating great content, who were, and still are, super successful online.
That’s right. All those Google animals didn’t have any effect on their businesses because they were doing the right thing.
And that leads me to the other part of the rule book.
Do the right thing!
You’ve heard of Karma right? Well this what most people are referring to when they refer to ‘Karma’…
It’s the law of reciprocity.
Basically there’s a universal law (just like gravity – we can’t see it, but it’s certainly real and it’s certainly powerful) that says (among other things) that the more people you help to get what they want, the more you will receive in return.
Yep. It’s the whole giving and receiving thing. 🙂
So when we’re in business with a focus purely to make money, then it’s not ever going to work in a sustainable way. We might create short term success, or even long term income, but without the motivation to help others in some way and the blessings that come from that, we’re destined to either fail or create some kind of suffering for ourselves just as surely as gravity will pull us to the ground if we jump off a building.
It’s a law! The law of reciprocity is a Universal law, and there doesn’t come any more powerful lawmaker than the Universe, God, Divinity or whatever name you prefer to use.
And so I was a slow learner.
Creating good content for all these sites that I’d been creating on all sorts of random topics seemed like hard work and that’s why I was hell bent on finding shortcuts!
That was, except for my very first site that I’d created, where I wrote about all the stuff I was into. It had great content! The problem with that site was that it wasn’t making much money and I wasn’t sure what to do about that.
But finally, I know what to do and how to do it, and that’s what I’m doing 🙂
I found a Guru!
That’s what everyone needs after all is a Guru! 🙂
But seriously, after all that searching I finally found one of those internet marketers who’d carried on despite the Google changes that crushed so many, and the great news is that she teaches others how to be successful too.
She’s one of those, who carried on unaffected by the changes that Google made, because she was following the rules that so many of us were trying to sidestep.
When I came across this lovely lady I was cautious I must admit. I’d been bitten plenty of times by now and I just really didn’t trust anyone online anymore.
What I mean is that I didn’t know who to trust, and I didn’t know what advice to trust because the playing field just kept on changing.
But after a bit of time, I got to know her a little and I realised how great the content was that she shared and how much sense it made. I began to recognise the truth in the way she goes about her business and the simplicity that she advocates.
Her methodical, learn-able approach to internet marketing was, and is, simple and effective.
She has helped me to gain much greater clarity over what I’m trying to achieve and has helped me to map out a path for myself and my business that I’m excited about and that I know will create the future for me that I’ve been looking for.
So who is this amazing lady?
Well…. I’ll give you some clues here:
- She’s been voted number 9 out of the top 25 affiliate marketers for 2014
- She’s been working online for 17 years and blogging for 10 of those years
- She has a fantastic product that can help you to speed up your internet marketing apprenticeship by teaching you step by step, how to create success online.
Ok. I know. The suspense of it all…. 🙂
She is Lynn Terry and this link will take you to her Niche Success Blueprint which is the step by step training that I was talking about.
She’s done such an awesome job with this training course. It starts at the beginning. It’s simple to follow and it works.
The best thing about working with Lynn is that she gives a lot , she cares and she really wants to help others succeed online and that’s what we want in a Guru. Right?
So that’s it…
That’s my story. How I came to be here, doing this.
The biggest lesson to take away from my story (you can learn from my mistakes if you like… 🙂 ) is that there is no easy way to make money – online or off (…except Ebay with a good dropship company – I can tell you that that CAN be easy money, but it’s probably not going to make you rich).
It all takes work and planning and the right intentions.
There is also another lesson that’s important to understand.
Some ways of making money can be fun! Some ways of making money can be incredibly fulfilling, incorporating your hobbies or the things you love, and they can be so much easier than the alternatives in the long term.
The truth is that is that there are different ways to make money, and some of them will lead to greater success, more freedom and more living.
The difference is in both the journey and the end result.
Working in a normal job until you retire and then living on a pension is one way of creating success (kind of…), but the process is long and drawn out and the end result often isn’t ideal.
A ‘J.O.B.’ (that stands for Just Over Broke) is where we exchange our time for money.
But if you’re here looking, then you probably know already that there are other, better ways to create both money and a lifestyle.
Ways that are leveraged. Ways where you put in a lot of time initially for very little return, but then gradually, you start to create some income and eventually you are earning money all the time:
- When you’re sleeping
- When you’re lying on the beach
- When you’re having your baby
- When you’re on your honeymoon
- When you’re on holiday
- When you’re skiing in Aspen
These are the less known, but smarter ways to make money and internet marketing is right up there as one of those ways.
It’s an idea worth considering…
